I am an author of historical fiction novels set in the twentieth-century world of eugenics. My goal in life is to give readers a glimpse into a world where people who had intellectual or physical impairments were routinely isolated in large remote institutions. These people were not alone. Anyone who had epilepsy, emotional or behavioral problems, or who were labeled as feebleminded were also institutionalized.

My hope is to remind people of the terrible past so that as a society, we don’t go back to isolating those who are different in some way.
